Image to Image AI
before & after examples

Reimagine a portrait, set the scene for a product, or explore a new space. Image to Image AI starts with what you have — and takes it further.

01PORTRAIT & STYLE

Restyle a portrait.
Keep the person in focus.

Use image to image AI to explore an illustrated portrait, a softer editorial finish or a different visual mood from the same photograph. Describe the artistic treatment you want, then identify the facial features, expression and pose that matter. Compare the result against your reference: restyling can change small details, so recognizable identity is something to review rather than assume.

02PRODUCT & BACKGROUND

Change the background.
Let your product stand out.

A product reference gives your next campaign a visual starting point. Ask for a clean studio scene, a textured surface or an editorial setting while specifying which product details should remain unchanged. For a useful AI product background, describe the light direction and contact shadow as well as the surroundings. Check labels, packaging geometry and colors carefully before using the result commercially.

03SPACE & ATMOSPHERE

Reimagine your interior.
Start with the room you have.

Try a warmer material palette, softer textiles or a new atmosphere without drawing a room from scratch. An existing interior photograph helps communicate the space, while your prompt directs the proposed changes. Name the walls, windows and furniture positions you want to preserve. Treat the result as a visual concept for discussion; it is not a measured plan or a guarantee that furnishings will fit.

04SKETCH & CONCEPT

Turn a sketch into an image.
Give your idea a finish.

A rough drawing can communicate a shape or composition that is difficult to describe in words alone. Use sketch to image AI to explore a finished treatment, then guide the materials, palette and lighting with your prompt. A clear sketch with distinct outlines makes your intention easier to express. Review silhouettes and proportions after generation, especially when the drawing represents a product that needs precise dimensions.

05RESTORE & COLORIZE

Refresh an old photograph.
Respect the details that matter.

Explore a cleaner interpretation of a faded or damaged photograph with a restoration prompt. Specify whether you want scratches reduced, contrast balanced or gentle color added, and ask to preserve the people, clothing and historical character. AI can invent detail where information is missing; keep the original file and compare faces closely. Colorization is an interpretation, not a record of the scene's actual colors.

06LIGHT & MOOD

Change the light.
Find a different atmosphere.

Lighting can give the same image a quieter, warmer or more dramatic direction. Describe the source, softness and color of the light instead of asking only for a mood. With an image editing prompt, you can explore golden-hour warmth or a diffused studio look while requesting that the scene stay recognizable. Review shadows and reflections together: inconsistent light can make an otherwise appealing edit feel unnatural.

How to use the
Image to Image AI generator

Find the right words
01

Start with an image

Upload a photo, sketch or design you have permission to use. A clear reference gives your edit a strong starting point.

02

Tell it what to change

Describe the new look. Mention the background, lighting or style — and the important details you want to keep.

03

Make it yours

Generate, compare and download. Refine your instructions to explore another direction or bring the details closer.

CREATE FROM WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE

An AI image generator
from your image.

An idea rarely starts from nothing. You might have a portrait that needs a different style, a product photo that needs a cleaner setting, or a sketch waiting for color and texture. Image to Image AI gives those existing visuals a new direction: upload one reference, describe the edit, and generate a new version online.

Unlike a fixed filter, an online AI image editor with text prompts can respond to a specific instruction. Ask for warmer light, a different material or an illustrated finish. Your reference anchors the request, while your prompt explains the result you want. Treat the output as a new interpretation of the source rather than a pixel-perfect edit.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT STARTING POINT

Image to image vs.
text to image AI

Both approaches use written instructions, but they begin with different information. Choose the approach that fits the materials you already have.

01 / WITH A REFERENCE

Image to image

Starts with a photo, drawing or design plus a prompt. Use it to explore a new style or setting around an existing subject. The reference helps communicate layout, proportions and appearance that can be difficult to describe in words alone.

02 / FROM A DESCRIPTION

Text to image

Starts with words and leaves more of the composition to the model. It suits concepts without a source image. This editor focuses on image to image generation: upload a reference before you generate, rather than starting with an empty canvas.

ONE EDITOR. DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS.

What can you create with
Image to Image AI?

Photo to anime and creative styles

Turn a photo into an anime-inspired portrait, a watercolor study or an editorial illustration. Describe the linework, palette and light, then name the pose and facial features you want to keep recognizable. Compare the result with the original, especially when identity matters.

Product backgrounds and campaign concepts

Explore a studio surface, seasonal scene or lifestyle background from a product photo. Specify the setting and shadow direction while asking to preserve shape, materials and branding. Review logos, labels and small parts before using an image in a product listing or advertisement.

Sketch to image and room concepts

Use a rough drawing to guide a finished concept, or a room photo to explore a different palette and material treatment. Clear outlines and a simple description help communicate the intended structure. Check perspective and geometry; generated concepts are visual explorations, not measured construction plans.

Photo restoration and colorization

Ask the editor to reduce visible scratches, balance faded tones or add plausible color to a black-and-white photograph. Include instructions to preserve expressions, clothing and the period character of the image. Missing detail and color are inferred by AI, so the result is not evidence of the original appearance.

BETTER WORDS. A CLEARER DIRECTION.

Write image to image
AI prompts with intent.

Start with one change instead of a long list of effects. Name the subject, describe the edit, then say what should remain recognizable. Add a material, color or lighting instruction only when it helps define the result. Avoid contradictory requests, such as keeping the exact camera angle while asking for a completely new viewpoint.

THE CHANGE

Replace the background with a warm-white studio surface.

THE DETAILS TO KEEP

Preserve the product shape, label, colors and camera angle.

THE FINISH

Add soft diffused light and a natural contact shadow.

Not quite right? Return to the original reference, simplify the instruction, and change one thing at a time.

Read the prompt guide
What is Image to Image AI?

Image to Image AI creates a new version of an uploaded photo, sketch or design using text instructions. The reference communicates the subject and composition, while your prompt directs the change. Use it for visual exploration, creative restyling and specific image edits.

Can I use Image to Image AI for free?

Yes. Try one standard image without signing in, limited to one guest trial per source. Sign in with an available provider for 8 free credits each UTC day, enough for two default GPT Image 1.5 images. Other models cost more. Daily credits reset at 00:00 UTC without accumulation. One-time credit packs are available on the Pricing page.

How do I edit a photo with text prompts online?

Upload a reference, enter a prompt describing the edit, choose an aspect ratio and generate. State both what should change and what you want to preserve. Review the result against the original before downloading, particularly when faces, labels or other important details are involved.

What image formats and file sizes can I upload?

The editor accepts JPG, PNG and WebP uploads up to 20 MB. Your browser resizes large images to a maximum 1,600-pixel longest edge and converts them to JPEG before sending. The processed image must fit the server's 3 MB limit. Start with a clear reference for useful detail.

Which aspect ratios are supported?

Choose square 1:1, landscape 3:2 or portrait 2:3. Pick the format that suits your intended use and describe any important framing in the prompt. Changing the ratio may change the composition. The editor does not currently offer a separate 4K output setting.

Can I turn a photo into anime or an illustration?

Yes, you can request an anime-inspired, watercolor or other illustrated treatment with a style prompt. Specify the visual treatment and which pose, framing or features should stay recognizable. Restyling can change a person's appearance, so inspect the result before sharing it.

Can I change a product background and preserve its logo?

Ask for a specific setting, lighting and shadow, then explicitly request the original product shape, color and logo. AI may still redraw lettering or small parts. Compare the generated image with the source before using it in a product listing or commercial campaign.

Can the editor restore or colorize an old photo?

You can prompt it to reduce scratches, improve faded tones or add plausible color. Ask to preserve facial features and historical details. Restoration and colorization infer information that may be missing from the source; they cannot confirm original colors or recover an exact historical appearance.

Which AI model does this image generator use?

Choose from GPT Image 1.5 (4 credits), GPT Image 2 (8 credits), Nano Banana (6 credits), Nano Banana 2 (8 credits), Nano Banana Pro (12 credits), Seedream 4.5 (6 credits), FLUX.2 Pro (8 credits). Models are accessed through Replicate. The guest trial uses GPT Image 1.5 only. Each request produces one image with bounded model-specific quality and resolution settings; results depend on your reference and prompt.

What happens if generation fails or I need more credits?

Service failures return reserved generation credits. A completed image that differs from your expectations is not a failed request. Refine your prompt for another attempt. Verified accounts receive 8 free credits per UTC day without accumulation; wait for the next daily allowance if needed. You can also buy a one-time credit pack on the Pricing page. Credits are specific to this website.
